Vários usos da palavra over

As I explained last class (tuesday), here we have many uses of the word over! Let's see.


1. Over (prep.): Em cima de; a cima de; mas sem entrar em contato com a superfície. Por exemplo, um avião sobrevoando minha casa. The plain is flying over my house.

2. Over (noun): Demasiado, exagerado. Por exemplo: This jacket is very over! (Esta jaqueta é muito exagerada), também entende-se por "brega" ou "ultrapassada"

- Overcoat: Sobretudo
-  Overcome: Superar, vencer; vencido por
- Overcrowded: Lugar superlotado
- Overestimate: Superestimar algo, alguém
- Overflow: Transbordar
- Overhaul: Revisão, fazer uma revisão (de um carro, por exemplo)
- Overhead: No alto
- Overload: Sobrecarregado
- Overweight: A cima do peso
- Oversleep: Dormir demais
- Oversee: Supervisionar

• Curiosidade: A expressão "GAME OVER" quer dizer "fim de jogo", "jogo acabado".
"War is over": A guerra acabou.
"My time is over": Meu tempo acabou.

"It's over." - Está tudo acabado.

Affirmative, Interrogative and Negative form of Verb TO BE

Affirmative: You are my grandmother.
Negative: You aren't (are not) my grandmother.
Interrogative: Are you my grandmother?

Affirmative: I am an English student.
Negative: I am not an English student.
Interrogative: Am I an English student?

Affirmative: She is happy.
Negative: She isn't (is not) happy.
Interrogative: Is she happy?
